Surprisingly Engaging “You Made It Weird” Pete Holmes Episodes

I like Pete Holmes as a stand-up comic. He’s goofy enough to be non-threatening, energetic enough to get me pumped, thoughtful enough to make him likeable, and engaging enough to make me want to hear what he has to say next. But while I just like him as a comic, I love him as an interviewer on his podcast You Made It Weird hosted on the Nerdist network.

pete-holmesWell… maybe calling him an interviewer is a stretch. The only person he seems to be interviewing is himself. The person he’s sitting with is pretty much a talking mirror that lets Holmes see deeper into himself. As he puts it, the show allows us to see what he’s like with other people. And if we happen to find out more about the guest, that’s icing on the cake.

Jumping into the podcast can be a little daunting given that there are more than a couple of hundred already, and they average about an hour and a half each. And let’s be honest: they’re not all gold (despite how ol’ Petey gushes over each episode in his intros). But most of them are worthwhile. That being said, I’ve compiled my favourite episodes for you here to get you up an running.

I’ll be sure to add to this list so that weirdoes all around the world can appreciate Peter Holmes the way I do now. My daily commutes and nighttime rituals have been greatly enhanced by this surprisingly engaging series.
